16 Sep TBABJ accepting scholarship applications
The Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists (TBABJ) is now accepting applications for its 2016 Griot Drum Scholarship Contest.
TBABJ awards thousands of dollars annually to deserving high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students of color pursuing college degrees in journalism or a communications-related discipline.
Please encourage all high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students of color (African-American, Hispanic, Asian, etc.) to apply. The application is on TBABJ’s website at www.tbabj.com. The submission deadline is Oct. 7.
Scholarship winners will be announced during TBABJ’s Griot Drum Awards & Scholarship Banquet on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Tampa Marriott Westshore, 1001 N. Westshore Blvd.
Students currently enrolled in college or graduating high school seniors are welcome to apply. Previous winners are not eligible. Applicants must have a connection to the area (attended school or once resided in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties.)
Supporting documents such as resumes, transcripts and letters of recommendation should be submitted to tampabayabj@gmail.com by Oct. 7.
