30 Aug 2019 Griot Drum Scholarship Applications

The Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists (TBABJ) is now accepting applications for its 2019 Griot Drum Scholarship Contest.

TBABJ awards thousands of dollars annually to deserving high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students of color pursuing a college degree in journalism or a communications-related discipline.

Please encourage all high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students of color (African-American, Hispanic, Asian, etc.) to apply. The application deadline is Friday, Oct. 18.

Scholarship winners will be announced during TBABJ’s Griot Drum Awards & Scholarship Banquet on Thursday, Nov. 14, at Tampa Marriott Westshore Tampa, 1001 N. Westshore Blvd., Tampa

Students currently enrolled in college or graduating high school seniors are welcome to apply. Previous winners are NOT eligible. Applicants must have a connection to the area (attended school or once resided in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties.)

Supporting documents such as resumes, transcripts and letters of recommendation should be submitted to tampabayabj@gmail.com by Oct. 19th.
