The Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists announces an extension for its 2012 Scholarship Contest. The revised application due date is Friday, Oct. 26, 2012.

Please encourage all high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students of color (African American, Hispanic, Asian, etc.) to apply. Applications must be postmarked by Oct. 26, 2012 to be considered.

Scholarship winners will be announced this year during TBABJ’s Griot Drum Awards ceremony, taking place in Oldsmar on Nov. 15, 2012 at The Nielsen Company, 501 Brooker Creek Blvd. To learn more about the Griot Drum Awards, visit www.tbabj.com.

Students currently enrolled in college or graduating high school seniors are welcome to apply. Previous winners are NOT eligible. Applicants must have a connection to (i.e. you attended school here, or once resided in) the Tampa Bay area (which includes Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and other surrounding communities). We expect our winners to attend all Griot Drum festivities on Nov. 15, 2012.

Completed application packets must be postmarked by Oct. 26, 2012.
