We are in the process of reviewing NABJ’s standing as part of UNITY: Journalists of Color. For the past several months, NABJ’s leaders has been working to receive a clear understanding of UNITY’s financial
expenditures and plans for future years, while at the same time offering proposals that accurately reflect the impact NABJ brings to UNITY conventions every four years. Unfortunately, all of our questions have not been answered, and we’ve reached the point where we must make some decisions about our future participation.
In an effort to address questions about this process, we’ve posted a list of frequently asked questions on the NABJ website at https://nabj.site-ym.com/?UNITYFAQ. This Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. eastern, we will host a town hall meeting for our members to share the latest developments in our ongoing negotiations with the UNITY alliance. I urge you to encourage your members to register and attend
to hear more details and ask additional questions. And lastly, I ask for your support. Thank you for your understanding as we continue this process.
Yours in service,
Kathy Y. Times
